Heavy rain has brought flooding and storms to the UK as forecasters warn of 'danger to life'. Although England endured the scorching heat, experts warn that another three days of downpours will not fully relieve parched Britain.
The Met Office has issued three days of warnings after soaring temperatures in recent weeks caused drought in more than half of England.
However, experts have warned that it will take 'weeks' of heavy rain to help parts of the country recover from the driest July on record, as the ground struggles to absorb the water, while flooding is also possible. Temperatures hit 34C on Sunday as the UK braces for three days of rain.
Storms are already expected in northern parts of the country, while forecasters have warned that conditions could be problematic from midday on Sunday to midnight on Monday for much of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Authorities have also warned that torrential rains could cause flash flooding and power outages, while the situation could lead to difficult driving conditions for motorists. This warning will extend to England and Wales on Monday and Tuesday, while the situation could improve on Wednesday. The warning has also been issued for businesses and homes that may be at risk from flash floods.
