The Municipal Police of Bellaria in Rimin carried out the emergency seizure of a puppy of the Maltese breed and at the same time launched an investigation for the owners on the charge of mistreatment of competing animals. The man and woman were reported by a neighbor who, feeling sorry for the harassment done to the poor animal, filmed everything with a smartphone and then reported the owners to the town hall office.

In the video, the man, a 46-year-old man of Albanian origin, was seen raising his hands on the Maltese, hitting him several times. In other cases the small dog would be grabbed by the ears and left hanging in the gap beyond the terrace railings of the couple's home. Moreover, in the complaint, the neighbor said that she had seen similar mistreatment in the past.

The suspects have strongly rejected the accusations leveled against them. In particular, the 46-year-old had admitted that he had scolded the animal, but only to educate it and make it understand that it should not eat the feces of the couple's son.

The investigating judge of the Court of Rimini, Vinicio Cantarini, will now have to decide on the fate of the dog. The suspects continue to claim that they are very close to the animal and that the whole story is the result of a misunderstanding that they intend to clarify as soon as possible.
