NAME/ KPA takes the drastic decision for the judge of Appeal

Today, the Special Board of Appeal upheld the decision of the KPK on the dismissal of judge Shpresa Beçaj.

The judging panel of the Special Appeal Board, composed of Rezarta Schuetz chairperson, Mimoza Tasi relator, Albana Shtylla, Ina Rama, Sokol Çomo members, announced the decision on the case concerning the appeal of the subject of the reassessment Shpresa Beçaj against the decision of the Independent Commission of Qualification no. 270, dated 03.07.2020.

At the end of the trial in the counseling room, the jury, based on article 66, point 1, letter "a" of law no. 84/2016, "On the transitional re-evaluation of judges and prosecutors in the Republic of Albania", unanimously decided: Enacting decision no. 270, dated 03.07.2020 of the Independent Qualification Commission, which belongs to the subject of the revaluation Shpresa Beçaj. This decision is final and has immediate effect. It was announced today, in Tirana, on 01.12.2022".

Shpresa Beçaj completed her law studies in 1983 and began her career as a judge at the Gramsh Court. She was appointed a judge in Tirana in 1990, while in 1994 she was promoted as a judge of the Appeal of Tirana.

In 2004, Beçaj was decreed a judge in the High Court, while 4 years later she was appointed president of this court.

With the end of the mandate in 2013, Beçaj led a legal battle against the High Council of Justice to return to the Court of Appeal of Tirana and won it.
