The well-known seismologist speaks: Here are the most seismic areas in Albania and the cities most at risk from earthquakes

Durrës is one of the most seismic cities in Albania. This is what seismologist Shyqyri Aliaj expressed in Shqip by Rudina Xhunga on Dritare TV.

Emphasizing that the southeast of Albania is a seismic zone, Mr. Aliaj added that Vlora is also a dangerous area, while the blocks of Himara and Saranda are far from danger.

"The most seismic areas in Albania in terms of magnitude and Richter scale are in the east of Albania. The earthquake of November 30, 1967 in the Librazhd-Diber area was of magnitude 7.

Durres has more risk. Also from the conditions of the land and terrain, but also because it is on the coast.

Therefore, Durrës is more at risk than Tirana from earthquakes. There is a tile border. Tirana is also at risk, but less so.

Vlora is also a seismic zone. In 1930 was the last strong earthquake that hit the city.
