The legend of the Albanian goal, Bujar Gogunja, has passed away at the age of 65 after a serious illness. The former goalkeeper of Labinot (Elbasan) could not win the battle with the disease, leaving family and friends sad.
Gogunja defended Labinot's goal for 11 years and dedicated his whole life to football as a coach after he retired from the activity. He is the first Albanian to write his name on the top of the world goalkeepers who have not conceded a goal for many minutes. For 1037, or in other words, in 11 consecutive meetings in the 1983-84 season, Gogunja did not concede a goal, being on the IFFHS list positioned as the 38th goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet.
Gogunja, ranked 38th in the IFFHS list, also holds the all-time unbeaten record for the Albanian football championship. The goalkeeper (born in 1957), who for more than 11 years (1974-1985) protected the quadrangle of Labinot, made an outstanding contribution to winning the yellow and blue's first championship title in the 1983-1984 season. He kept a clean sheet in 11 consecutive matches, but in the 43rd minute of the 12th match, it was Partizan's Genc Tomori, who "tragically" ended Bujar's all-time record in Albania with his goal. . In the championship of the 1983-1984 season, Elbasan in 26 games suffered a total of 14 goals, 15 wins, 7 draws, 4 losses, 37 points. (At that time a victory was valued at 2 points).
