The departure of Albanians, the employment expert shows the 'key': The salary of 850 euros will curb emigration

The departure of Albanians, the employment expert shows the 'key': The

In the conditions of the departure of the labor force from the country, the expert on employment issues, Erald Pashai, suggests increasing the average salary to 850 euros to curb emigration, but according to economist Ardian Civici, there are no opportunities for their increase.

"We have done a study and the average salary is 1 million old lek net. The salary is 1 million net old lek, or 850 euros per month per individual, and immigration will be curbed, but not zero, and we will still have difficulties".

But for expert Ardian Civici, the possibilities of salary increase do not exist as they depend on the market, competition and productivity.

"The percentage contribution of different sectors of the economy in the countries of the Western Balkans is dominated by financial services, those with high technology, industrial sectors, the car industry, and this in Albania is dominated by agriculture, small services, and fashion. Comparing it with the countries of the Western Balkans, what we lack are sectors with high productivity and high added value, where capital dominates, rather than labor. The basis of wages is dictated by the market, competition and productivity. It is not resolved by political or business will".

Pashai emphasizes that salaries should increase every year and not just their indexation.
"Whoever does not respond to the market, the market will slap you and there are many others who have not followed the market demand. The fashion industry pays 44,000 lek per month, it is very little and they are not finding employees. We have a mentality for work, I have worked in all the countries of the region, the employees had the courage to ask for more and all my colleagues were paid more than me. Wages did not increase by 40-50%, but we must introduce it into our culture every year by 5-10%, not only inflation. And if you do it annually. We have to follow demand and supply".

Another big disadvantage for our economy, according to Pashai, is low productivity and turnover of employees within companies.
"Today it is a big disadvantage, we have low productivity and we have departures and we have turnovers within the companies. Employee turnover has reached 100% and this has happened in hotels. You have no productivity, you have no service quality. Some businessmen stay loyal to their salaries. Staff turnover is a stubborn indicator that if 10-15% leave within the company, something is wrong and you need to intervene. Today, the biggest concern is the workforce."
