The new law on beekeeping, minister Krifca comes out with the latest announcement

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Frida Krifca, presented today in the Assembly Committee for Production Activity, Trade and Environment, a very important draft law for the agricultural sector, the "Beekeeping Bill".

The minister said that "this law will formalize and regulate all production, transportation, packaging and processing of beekeeping products. This draft law will give value to the beekeeping product, the honey product, aiming to further increase the production in the country and the exit to international markets".

"The beekeeping sector has had a significant development in recent years, we grow by 10% in honey production every year, we have supported this sector every year and we want this law, which regulates the sector and protects beekeepers, to give the impulse appropriate to further develop this sector and oriented towards exports ", said Minister Krifca.

According to Minister Krifca, the law on beekeeping has a three-year strategy which will serve to support the beekeeping sector, where, together with the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, more attention and support will be given to agritourism and the ecosystem.

The minister pointed out that the roles of the institutions are described in the law and one of the main objectives is the protection of bee species and the promotion of native Albanian species.

The bee is vital to agriculture. The draft law recognizes the special role of beekeeping in agriculture, economy and in the income of farming families.

After discussions, the committee unanimously approved this important draft law.
