Due to the increased influx at the weekend to the coastal and tourist areas, the police have increased controls in all the main axes of the country using automatic radars, smart cars, educational drones and cameras, in order to prevent road accidents.
As a result of monitoring, during the last 48 hours, speeds ranging from:
– 154 km/h to 167 km/h on the National Road;
– 203 km/h to 230 km/h on the Laç-Milot highway;
– 137 km/h to 141 km/h on the main interurban road Cerme-Lushnje.
As a result, 155 driving licenses were suspended and 2125 administrative measures were imposed for violations that are a potential risk for involvement in traffic incidents. 123 of the drivers had their licenses suspended from 3 to 12 months, while 21 driving licenses were suspended for a period of 2 to 18 months and 11 for driving in the opposite direction.
The following were punished with administrative measures:
– 553 vehicle drivers for wrong overtaking;
– 598 for speeding over the permitted rates but without the additional sanction of driving license suspension;
– 334 for not wearing a seat belt;
– 513 for using a mobile device while driving;
– 127 for not wearing a protective helmet by drivers of motor vehicles.
