"Something you have not seen will happen in Kosovo", what is Vucic warning with his latest statement

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said that something "we have not seen before" will happen in Kosovo, while he assessed the current situation as the most difficult so far.

"I am afraid of instability, even of major conflicts, because I know that the Serbs cannot endure anymore, while this [Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti] dreams of being [President of Ukraine, Volodymyr] Zelensky," Vucic told Serbia's Pink TV.

His statement comes after the Kosovo Police helped the Albanian mayors of the Serb-majority municipalities in the north of Kosovo: Zveçan, Leposaviq and Zubin Potok, to enter their municipal offices on May 26.

This action was strongly opposed by the local Serbian population, which clashed with the police.

"Tonight I received news from European officials that they are worried about the possible events tomorrow, because the Serbs will definitely protest and demand the return of their occupied buildings", said Vucic.

The international community condemned the decision of the Government of Kosovo for the mayors to enter the municipal buildings by force and called on the authorities to exercise restraint and withdraw.

The NATO military alliance also called on the institutions of Kosovo to immediately escalate the situation in the north inhabited by a Serbian majority.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said that he understands the concerns of international partners, but added that any other option would be "non-fulfillment of the constitutional obligations of the Government towards the new presidents".

These leaders emerged from the extraordinary elections of April 23, which were boycotted by the Serbian community.
