Interior Minister Bledi Çuçi has appreciated the joint work of the Albanian and Italian authorities for cracking down on a criminal group that trafficked various drugs from Albania to Italy. In a reaction on social networks, Çuçi writes that the investigation was carried out professionally by the joint team between Albania and Italy. The Minister of the Interior says that the State Police has gained the trust of international partners in its determination to fight crime. "The finalization of the operation to attack a criminal group in the field of narcotics, which led to the arrest and prosecution of dozens of people inside and outside the country, is another success of the work of the joint investigation teams Albania-Italy. A job well done with high professionalism in every aspect. In the last two years alone, our police have been involved in 52 Joint Investigation Teams, a record number if we compare it with other European countries. This proves the high confidence that the State Police has today in the eyes of international partners and our determination to fight crime. Congratulations to the State Police, especially to the officers who participated in this operation, SPAK, the Police and the Italian Prosecutor's Office", writes Minister Bledi Çuçi. An investigation launched in 2019 by Albanian and Italian authorities into a criminal group that trafficked narcotics of various types led to the issuance of 62 arrest warrants in two countries. 4 million euros were seized as generated by criminal activity. 21 of which in Albania, 15 executed by the State Police, while the operation was coordinated by Eurojust and Europol.
