OSCE publishes 9 steps to reduce tensions in the north

The Chairman of the OSCE and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia, Bujar Osmani, in a post on his Twitter account, has published 9 steps on how to reduce tensions in the north of Kosovo.

According to Osman, the first step is for Kosovo and Serbia to reaffirm their commitment to the Ohrid agreement and the implementation annex.

The removal of Kosovo's special police from the municipalities in the north and the reduction of Serbian forces is the second step according to the OSCE.

In the 3rd step, they write that security on the ground should be taken over by the regular police with the assistance of KFOR and EULEX.

Step 4 is the cancellation of protests, i.e. the return to normality of municipal services.

As step 5, they propose that the new mayors resign in the summer of this year to pave the way for new municipal elections.

According to the OSCE, step 6 is for the extraordinary municipal elections to be held this year, with the support of the OSCE for the electoral process, which will increase credibility among the communities.

The OSCE in the eighth step says that it will deal with the youth through programs for reconciliation and in the last step they say that the OSCE supports the implementation in good faith of the agreements that have been reached and the resumption of a meaningful dialogue.
