The flag of the Republic of Kosovo has also been placed in the municipality of Zveçan, after yesterday's tensions, where the new mayor, Ilir Peci, was installed with the assistance of the Kosovo Police.
During today's day, the flags of Serbia have been removed, and the one of Kosovo has been installed. While in other municipalities, the flag of Kosovo was placed yesterday.
Although the situation in the north of Kosovo is calm, the fear of possible tensions is felt. Near the buildings of the municipalities of Leposaviç, Zveçan and Zubin Potok, there is a presence of the Kosovo Police and also inside the buildings.
In Leposavic, even though it was an official day off, in the Municipality building, the new mayor, Lulzim Hetemi, received the Minister of Internal Affairs of Kosovo, Xhelal Sveçla, in a meeting.
Armored vehicles of the Kosovo police are patrolling, while the excavators have removed the sand thrown the day before near the municipality of Leposaviç. Shops and bars are open and everything seems to be returning to normal.
Despite the calming of the situation, the Chairman of the Serbian List, Goran Raki?, demands "withdrawal of all special forces", otherwise Serbia should stop the dialogue with Serbia.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti held a meeting with the head of the KFOR mission. The head of the government of Kosovo emphasized that he understands the concern of the internationals, but said that the police and all other institutions are performing the obligations assigned to them by the Constitution.
"Kosovo Police is committed to provide municipal mayors with access to their workplace according to their official duties. Mayors of municipalities, elected by free and democratic elections, must exercise their duties and responsibilities, to provide quality public services to all citizens, without obstacles".
KFOR described the situation in the north as "dangerous", while NATO called on the institutions in Kosovo to "immediately" de-escalate the situation.
