Only 15 minutes of unusual storm in the village of Kalenjë in Mallakastra were enough for dozens of olive trees to be uprooted and the roofs of houses to be destroyed. Residents say that such a storm has never happened in their area. According to them, the storm was concentrated in the Paja neighborhood, where the damage was greater. We couldn't believe our eyes, say the shocked residents. Centuries-old and 30-year-old olive trees had their branches broken and uprooted while roof tiles flew everywhere. Fortunately, it happened in the afternoon, they say, at a time when residents are in their homes, as the storm could have damaged people.

Resident: The storm fell from 5 o'clock in the afternoon, the day before yesterday, the event happened very quickly and caused great damage. The wind has picked up. I had never seen such a strong storm, the doors and windows were shaken. It started from the top, uprooted the olive trees and took them 100 meters further. He uprooted the forests, the oaks, the roof flew off, what did he do? Even though others were notified to come and help us, they have not helped us, nor are they going to come. There is no road here, if your friend leaves you, you will pass, even though we have paid the taxes. We don't have drinking water, I took the water a kilometer and a half away with a hose, the hose broke on the way. Although 3 km away from the city, we are left at the mercy of fate. We call on the state to wake up because we have never seen it.

Residents also claim that no verification group has come to the field to look closely at the damages, as they express disbelief about compensations, since according to them, Kalenja is a village completely neglected by investments. Faced with this situation, they appeal for help from the state as they feel abandoned and left at the mercy of fate.
