The police start the action, verify 200 vessels: New base conditions
Written by SOT.COM.AL 6 Gusht 2022
The State Police announces that it has launched an operation along the entire coastline for the verification of watercraft. It is learned that in 4 days 200 vessels were escorted for documentation verification and it is informed that in cases where these vessels are regular they will be allowed to go out to sea, but with new conditions of the location of the base and of strictly respecting the distance from the buoys ( security perimeter).
For several days, the operation continues along the entire coastline, from Velipoja to Ksamil, to increase the safety parameters on the beaches.
During the 4 days of the operation, about 200 watercraft and entertainment vehicles, of which 125 jet skis and 75 dinghies and small boats, were escorted for documentation verification.
Border Police, Delta Force, Order Police, "Eagle" Special Forces and Criminal Police were involved in the operation. Also, the Economic and Financial Crime Sector and the Illegal Traffic Investigation Sector, in the Local Police Directorates of Vlorë, Durrës, Fier, Lezhë and Shkodër, were also involved in the operation.
The purpose of the operation is the control of all vessels, the verification by the Sector for the Investigation of Economic Crime, for the documentation of the means and if they are related to cases of laundering the proceeds of the criminal offense, as well as the verification by the Sector for the Investigation of Illegal Traffic and by Interpol, whether or not these tools are stolen abroad.
Vessels, accompanied by police services operating from sea and land, will be subject to a strict control by all responsible structures, in cooperation with law enforcement agencies and partners.
In cases where these tools are regular, they will be allowed to go out to sea, but with new conditions for the location of the base and the strict observance of the distance from the buoys (security perimeter).
The vessels that serve for tourism (small and large ships) have been verified, they have been found to be regular and have continued their activity normally.
During the summer season, the Border Police checked about 900 vessels, of which 65 were punished with administrative measures.
From the beginning of the tourist season until now, from the verifications carried out, 25 watercraft, mainly Jet Skis and small rafts, have been blocked because they did not have proper documentation.
Also, during the season, 22 police operations were carried out on the entire coastline for the release of spaces unjustly occupied by local owners or different individuals. As a result of these operations, 2455 umbrellas and sunbeds were seized, and 26 people were prosecuted.
The State Police has no intention of penalizing or blocking vessels that have regular documentation and strictly follow the rules of going out to sea, but it is aimed at increasing the safety of life for vacationers on the coastline.
