He shot the Egyptian with a firearm, the identity of the policeman in Kukës is revealed
Written by SOT.COM.AL 5 Dhjetor 2022
Kyvet Balaj is the State Police officer who shot the refugee in Milot - Kukës, in the place called "Rubik", causing a wound to his ribs, but fortunately his life was not endangered. Investigations have started for the 29-year-old officer, as until now, until the Police Supervision Agency comes to a conclusion, Balaj has been suspended from his duty. But it is still not clear how the incident happened. It all started after a Volkswagen van caught the young man's attention, which was driving fast and irregularly, so he was chased, along with his "Eagle" colleagues.
As they followed the van under the underpass of the village of Mamas-Kukës, after about 100 meters, the driver Klevis Gjoni stopped and tried to run away, as did the others who were in the same vehicle with him. At this moment, the police officer took out his gun and after shooting twice in the air continued to follow them, but due to the difficult terrain with bushes and humidity and in the dark conditions, he was hindered. Therefore, it is justified that: he had committed involuntary shooting with the pistol he was holding. As a result, the Egyptian citizen MH G was injured, who received a gunshot wound in the back.
In addition to the Egyptian, Muhamet Harbi was wounded by gunshots, while the driver was also injured, who suffered minor injuries after falling from a height of about 3 meters during the pursuit by the police officers. After receiving first aid at the Kukës Regional Hospital, they were taken to the Tirana Trauma Hospital and are currently out of danger. At the scene, 3 "GLOK" cartridges belonging to the police officer's weapon were found.
