Forensic expert, Ervin Karamuço, spoke tonight on the show 'Open', about the cultivation of cannabis in the country.
Karamuço gave the alarm, as he commented on the report published today on cannabis cultivation, where Albania was ranked seventh in the world.
Expert Karamuço said that it is true that there is a reduction of cannabis in the country, because according to him, now Albania has become a transit country and processing of hard drugs, such as heroin and cocaine. On the other hand, journalist Armand Bajrami said that in our country the cultivation of cannabis and "grass houses" continues to be a problem.
Karamuço: It is a report that refers to a time, 2016-2019, that we know there was cannabis. I will refer to the latest Europol report, which says there is a reduction in cannabis, but the lines have been increased for hard drugs, namely cocaine and heroin. This should worry us. We have become a transit country and processing of hard drugs because there is no longer any interest from criminal groups to risk so much with cannabis. The biggest fight from now on is over hard drugs.
Bajrami: The Europol report, which says about the reduction of cannabis areas, is also true, but if we were to refer to the statements of the police, we would now be at a disadvantage, because every year it decreases a little. Cannabis greenhouses, "grass houses", remain problematic, as in two police operations, in two events that took place in the north, two houses were discovered. So, cannabis cultivation remains a problem in the country. For this ranking, I believe that the period of 2016-2019 has influenced, when we had an increase in cannabis cultivation in the country.
