Would Donald Trump surrender voluntarily? The former president's lawyer

In an interview with NBC News this afternoon, Tacopina said Trump was "initially shocked" by a Manhattan grand jury's decision to indict him and believes the decision is an "injustice."

According to attorney Tacopina, the case "puts the rule of law at risk for all Americans."

Asked if Trump would surrender voluntarily, he said his legal team was "working toward that logic," but he would not be "imprisoned" at his Florida Mar-a-Lago resort.

The grand jury in Manhattan gave the green light to indict him, making him the first former president in American history to face such a situation. Although the 34-count indictment is sealed, some of the charges allegedly relate to payments made during the 2016 presidential campaign to buy the silence of a pornographic actress with whom he was said to have had an extramarital affair.
