"The world must take it seriously", the Greek media sound the alarm: This is the country that is strongly preparing for war

Chinese leader Xi Jinping has warned that he is preparing for war.

At the annual meeting of China's parliament, Xi addressed the country's readiness for war, while his government also announced a 7.2 percent increase in China's defense budget. The budget has doubled over the last decade.

And in recent months, Beijing has unveiled new military preparedness laws, new air raid shelters in cities across the strait from Taiwan and new "National Defense Mobilization" offices across the country.

It is too early to say for sure what these developments mean, as conflict is not certain to happen anytime soon.

“But something has changed in Beijing that policymakers and business leaders around the world cannot afford to ignore. If Xi says he is preparing for war, it would be foolish not to take him at his word," writes the Greek media.
