The United Arab Emirates comes to the aid of Turkey and Syria, you will not believe the staggering figure it donates

The President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, has ordered the allocation of 100 million dollars to support the two countries affected by the earthquakes, Turkey and Syria, the state news agency WAM reported on Tuesday.

Over 5,000 people are reported dead after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck in the early morning hours of February 6.

The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has declared a state of emergency for three months. The state of emergency will be in the ten cities affected by the earthquakes: Gaziantep, Kahramanmarash, Hatai, Osmanije, Adijamana, Malatia, Shanleurfa, Adana, Diyarbakir and Kilis.

The declaration of a state of emergency comes at a time when efforts are continuing in Turkey and Syria to rescue people who are believed to be trapped under the rubble of thousands of buildings destroyed by the powerful earthquakes that struck these two countries.

In Syria, the places affected by the earthquake are: Aleppo, Lakatiya, Hama, Idlib and Tartus. Teams with specialists from countries around the world have been mobilized to provide assistance in search and rescue operations in Turkey and Syria./REL
