Israa Altayeh is a girl who has inspired everyone with her story and is making the rounds of the world media.
She is a Jordanian girl who as a child suffered from severe joint pain, loss of consciousness and other severe symptoms.
No doctor was able to understand what disease Israa had until at the age of 18 she decided to study medicine and diagnose her disease herself. Israa read over 200 medical books.
The 18-year-old discovered herself suffering from Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS), a rare disease that affects one in 20,000 people worldwide. The pathology involves connective tissue and includes symptoms ranging from joint problems, skin problems to the digestive system. The same disorders that the girl suffered from the age of 10 years. There is currently no specific cure for this condition.
"I received special food and medicine for my condition from America and other things to reduce joint problems. Now I have hope, now I can start thinking again about the future like girls my age. "I know it will still take time for the treatments, but I came out of the dark," Israa said.
