The Swiss media has made a strong statement about saying that NATO can quickly intervene in the Black Sea as they are international waters.

Because Russia is blocking the Black Sea, Ukrainian merchant ships can not export 50 million tons of grain. There is also a threat of a global food crisis.

Ukraine surprised the whole world with its resilience against militarily superior Russia. But the defenders have a major weakness: the Black Sea. The Russians were able to place a naval blockade there early.

Because the Ukrainian navy is quite weak, the invaders are likely to maintain control of access to the sea for a long time.

With this, Putin is dealing a severe blow to the economy in Ukraine. Prior to the war, much of Ukraine's exports went through the Black Sea, according to Welt. Above all, agricultural products such as wheat were important.

Failed to bypass the naval blockade

However, not only Ukraine but nations around the world now have a problem due to the Russian naval blockade. Before the war, Ukraine was the second largest exporter of wheat in the world, after the US, with 60 million tons. With this grain now blocked, if the situation remains the same, a global food crisis is approaching. In late April, Kiev tried to circumvent the Russian naval blockade. The wheat was brought to Romania by train and shipped from ports there in the world. However, the Russians quickly recognized the maneuver and stopped it by specifically bombing an important connecting bridge in Odessa.

Western countries send anti-ship missiles

Ukraine lacks freight trains to shift grain exports entirely to rails and transport them across the Polish border, for example. Moreover, the EU has a different binary space than Ukraine. Thus, all transported goods would have to be reloaded.

So there is probably no way for Ukraine to export wheat. Therefore, many Western countries have taken measures because they depend on wheat from Ukraine. Thus the British sent modern anti-ship missiles that could be used against Russian warships. Denmark also recently announced the deployment of a ground-based Harpoon system.

The former commander has solutions
