US President-elect Joe Biden has said the US unemployment report shows that the economic recovery is stalled and has called on Congress to pass a bill to help after the coronavirus crisis.
"If we do not act now, the future will be very bleak," Biden said.
"Americans need help, and they need that help now," he added.
After the government reported on December 4 the unemployment rate in November, Biden told reporters that he supports a $ 908 billion package for COVID-19 that is being considered in Congress.
He said that once he takes office he will ask the Congress to approve more aid packages, adding that the package that is already being considered is "just the beginning", writes rel.
Biden wants Democrats and Republicans in Congress to approve larger aid packages because "they will face an unprecedented need" for that, he said.
Momentum is being built in Congress on this bill, which provides financial assistance to businesses, the unemployed, schools and health care.
This bill is the second aid bill since the first package was approved in March.
