Norway gives a strong blow to Russia, here is the good news for Ukraine

Norway will send part of its fleet of German-made Leopard tanks to Ukraine "as soon as possible", citing the possibility that the delivery could take place at the end of March, the Ministry of Defense said.

Norway is among several European states that last week promised to send much-wanted tanks from Ukraine as Kiev continues its fight against Russian forces.

The shipment of these tanks was made possible after the decision of Germany, the country where the tanks are manufactured.

Norway has 35 Leopard 2 tanks, but the country has not indicated how many tanks it will give to Kiev.

"We still haven't determined the number," Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram told AFP.

"It is important that we coordinate closely with our partners so that this aid really makes a difference for Ukraine," he said.

"Of course, we hope that this will be done as soon as possible", he added.

Last week, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that Berlin also intends to send 14 Leopard tanks to Ukraine in late March or early April.

Norway and other countries that have Leopard tanks have needed Berlin's approval to transfer these tanks to another country.

Last week, the United States also indicated that it will send 31 Abrams tanks to Ukraine, as Ukraine prepares for a counteroffensive aimed at expelling Russian forces from the south and east of the country./REL
