The European Medicines Agency has rejected a request from German pharmaceutical company Biontech and US partner Pfizer for approval of the vaccine.
According to the Financial Times, the European Medicines Agency will give its opinion on the vaccine at its December 29 meeting. Meanwhile the evaluation of the Moderna vaccine has been postponed to 12 January 2021, which indicates that the delivery of the potential vaccine will be delayed.
German Health Minister Jens Spahn announced that vaccination could start before the end of this year, but after the request was rejected by the Agency, he said that vaccination could start in January.
