High tension in the Baltics, the decisive hours that can prevent a "Third World War", here are the 3 countries where an armed conflict could break out

High tension in the Baltics, the decisive hours that can prevent a "Third

The Kaliningrad blockade continues to be a nerve center of the already compromised relationship between Russia and the West. The Russian enclave between Poland and Lithuania, Moscow's outpost in the Baltics, has been subject to a blockade of about half its goods through Lithuania since June 18, provoking the Kremlin's anger. The Lithuanian government explained that it is the implementation of the European legislation on the sanctions imposed on the Russian Federation for the attack on Ukraine. But the risk of a military escalation, with a Russian plan to avoid leaving the region at the mercy of the embargo, is not a scenario that should be considered completely unfeasible. And that is why in recent days, as Reuters explained,

Moscow threatens

In the last few hours, very clear signals have arrived from Kaliningrad and Moscow. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov explained during his latest press conference that the Russian government trusts "common sense" while also preparing "for the worst case scenario." The door to dialogue is open, they say, but, as announced by the governor of the region, Anton Alikhanov, there is the possibility of an "extreme response" economically. "Let's see who is stronger. Something tells me that we will be stronger", said Alikhanov. Therefore the aim is to reach a compromise in these hours to avoid drastic choices. The vice-president of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, who spoke last week about the blockade of Kaliningrad, speaking of "a complete crisis" and a "threat to the country" for which "mainly in the economic field". The former president had also threatened Lithuania to "cut off the oxygen" in retaliation for what is happening with the partial embargo on goods in the Baltic region. The chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Duma, Leonid Slutsky, had spoken about a possible interruption of the electricity supply. In the hours after the announcement of the partial blockade of commercial traffic, there was talk of a disconnection of Russia from the Brell system, which connects Moscow to the electricity grids of the Baltic states. Also important were the words of Nikolai Patrushev, the secretary of the Security Council and one of the most powerful "hawks" in the circle of Russian power, who had promised immediately after the blocking of answers with "a serious negative impact on the Lithuanian population".
