The powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 hits this state, the citizens in panic

An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale was recorded in Oaxeca, Mexico. The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center says there were no reports of property damage or injuries.

Meanwhile, they add that the earthquake was 57 km deep.

Mexico's civil defense agency said it was in contact with local authorities in Oaxaca to assess the affected area, adding that no damage had been reported so far.

The tremors were felt lightly in the capital Mexico City and the quake alarm system was not activated, said Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum.
