Sad news has come today for the art world. Famous French actress Nathalie Delon has passed away at the age of 79.
The news was made known to AFP by her son, Anthony, who said that the actress died on Thursday morning after being affected by cancer.
"My mother died this morning at 11 in the morning in Paris, surrounded by her family and friends. "She died of cancer very quickly," he said.
Delon, of Spanish descent, was born on August 1, 1941, in Oudja, Morocco, before moving to Paris in 1962 after splitting from his first husband, Guy Barthélémy, with whom he had a daughter. The actress later married Alain Delon in the summer of 1964 before divorcing four years later. She was best known to the general public for her role in "The Samurai" in 1967.
She starred in more than 30 films during the 1970s, including "Army of Shadows," "A Faithful Woman," or "Le temps des vacances." Afterwards, Delon would go right behind the scenes in "They Call It an Accident" (1982) and "Sweet Lies" (1986), with Treat Williams.
