The "tsunami" of incandescent lava flowing from the Cumbre Vieja crater in La Palma (Canary Islands) has been going on for several weeks. This is shown in a video posted on Twitter by the Institute of Volcanology of this Spanish archipelago (Involcan).
According to the latest data provided by the Spanish authorities, so far the lava has covered at least 674 hectares of land and about 6,800 people are currently evacuated.
Recent images show the consequences of an "overflow" of the volcano crater, the flow of which has included roads, houses and agricultural fields.
Volcanic activity has continued for almost a month and has continued with larger and more explosive moments, in which more liquid lava comes out, say those responsible for the emergency plan for this natural disaster in Spain.
