A 15-ton meteorite found in a region of Somalia could lead to the discovery of new materials not found on our planet.

According to scientists, the meteor contains two minerals that have never been seen before on our planet, as well as a third mineral, as yet unidentified, which is being analyzed by researchers from the University of Alberta in Canada.

The meteor, said to be the ninth largest known to reach the Earth's surface, was found two years ago, but only now have the two mystery elements been identified. The new minerals have been named elaliite and elkistantonite.
