Did he order the guard to shoot on January 21st? Sali Berisha speaks: I asked

Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, commenting on the January 21 event, said that it was not a violent protest, but an attempt to seize power by force.

Berisha said that he had requested an international investigation into the incident, but it was Edi Rama who refused.

"The aim of those protesters was to occupy the prime minister's office and what I am saying is not a fantasy. They opened the door of the prime minister with a forceful car that is known who brought it. The guard, as it is known, has no other means of protection, no stick, no gas, no spray. Their only means of protection anywhere in the world is the weapon.

Whether the guards fired in legal terms or not, this is an issue that has been investigated by Ina Rama's team. I will remind you only one thing, it is Sali Berisha who has requested an international investigation of the event. I asked for it publicly. I asked the EU and US representatives to investigate the incident impartially.

The man who categorically and categorically opposed the investigation through Ina Rama, was Edi Rama. "My partners told me that the prosecution does not accept, so Edi Rama does not accept the international investigation," said Berisha.

Asked if he had given an order for the guard, Berisha reiterated that the guard acts according to the laws.

"Pine has been fired hundreds of times into the air. Ricochets have been made. In my office, but also in the offices one floor above are the bullets. The Guard acts according to the laws and that law has not been approved by my majority.

The attempt or coup was a shocking act not only for Albania, but also for NATO and beyond. High-level US and EU officials, OSCE and other institutions came here urgently. I did not hand them over for investigation, but Edi Rama made a statement threatening the guard. "After destroying the chain of guards with arrests, he was getting ready to attack again," said Berisha.
