Bujar Leskaj: The man who changed the world

Democratic Party MP, Bujar Leskaj in an article on social networks wrote about John Paul II, the Polish Pope who changed the world.

Full response:

John Paul II- Polish Pope, the man who changed the world

Today Pope John Paul II would turn 102 years old. Pope John Paul II was one of the greatest personalities of all time, who in his own way gave another face to the twentieth century.

Always on the right side of history, defender of the freedoms and rights of peoples, Pope John Paul II was against tyrants and violence erected in the system, against dividing barriers between people, he was a visionary of a just and humane world!

Pope Wojtyla left a great message to his Polish compatriots: "Do not be afraid!", While conveying the message to the peoples of the world: "We do not want a democracy without virtues!"

During his first pilgrimage to Poland, John Paul II, at the head of a crowd of people in Victory Square in Warsaw, said these words that will be remembered for a long time: "Let your soul go down and change the face of the world. Of this world!"

This speech was given in June 1979, at a time when the world was divided into two political camps and communism at that time was strongly held. No one could have imagined how much the Pope, who came from a distant land, would influence the change of the religious and political image of many countries, first and foremost, of his country.

John Paul II participated in 12 international pilgrimages (visited 135 countries) and 142 trips across Italy. It traveled 1.6 million kilometers, the equivalent of 40 trips around the earth across the equator.

Delivered 898 speeches. During his papacy 300 million people converted to Christianity.

The funeral ceremony in St. Peter's Square was attended by over 200 kings, presidents, prime ministers and representatives of all religions, as well as 300,000 believers (5 million people had gathered in Rome, including 1.5 million Poles).

Pope Wojtyla was a true friend of Albanians. It was the Pope who fell to his knees and kissed our earth; it was the Pope who prayed with tears in his eyes for Albania and the Albanians during the dictatorship!

His every word was an oasis of light for all of us, Catholics or not, Albanians, Poles, Italians, etc .; balm for our soul, hope for a better future!

Gratitude!
