He indicated that he asked Prime Minister Rama for time to think after the offer made to him.
Excerpts from the interview on News24
Q: Why did you choose to work for a government that you criticize?
Mazi: I have made the criticisms and they are public. But how I see them today is that we have done honor to ourselves and our country. The Prime Minister told me I have this idea, I will think I told him it is a great honor. It is a selection that gives you a lot of responsibility. The second point relates to politics. We have had a very conflicting policy for 30 years. The message I conveyed through the writings is that there is a limit, you need to dialogue as much as possible. Pro-integration rhetoric serves the country.
Q: Will you work for a prime minister you criticize, a failed government?
Mazi: It is difficult to say that it failed after 7 months. Working together for a good on a large scale is in the best interest of the country. They all need to come together for this job. But criticism must be balanced.
