The "McGonigal" case, Enkelejd Alibeaj makes a strong appeal to Rama: He has a duty to give explanations
Written by SOT.COM.AL 7 Shkurt 2023
The Conference of Presidents decided today to accept the opposition's request to hold a motion with a debate on the "McGonigal" issue, this issue which has ignited the political debate in Albania.
PD MP, Enkelejd Alibeaj, spoke after the meeting, while he said that the majority is trying to hide Rama. He said that the prime minister of a country has the obligation to clarify this issue, which is sensitive in Albania and the USA.
Insisting that the prime minister must give an explanation to the Albanians about this situation, Alibeaj emphasized that the majority has postponed the request for the establishment of the Investigative Commission.
"We asked for an interview, but it was not accepted. According to the law, the prime minister and the ministers are obliged to give explanations about such a big issue here and in the USA. I told you that it is a game of how to hide Rama from some facts, from some truths, that have come out, not from us, not from the opposition, but from American justice. The law on investigative commissions is the tradition of this parliament. 35 MPs have signed for the establishment of the commission and the determination of the case for "Mc Gonigal". A fence was made to hide Rama. Requests are signed with first and last name. We can accept the silence when you are in front of the prosecutor's office, but when you are the prime minister, you must answer," Alibeaj said.
