What is suspected? SPAK extends the investigation outside Albania for Arben Ahmetaj

The investigation launched by SPAK against the former deputy prime minister, Arben Ahmetaj, has also extended beyond the borders. Official sources of the Special Prosecutor's Office confirmed that on account of this investigation, registered under number 277/1, several letters were sent abroad.
According to the sources, through them it was requested to carry out verifications by the authorities of these countries for the suspicions raised against the former Minister of Finance for the possibility of involvement in corruption, money laundering or concealment of wealth. For some of these letters, SPAK has received answers and is processing the information sent, while for others it is still waiting.
Meanwhile, the Special Prosecutors are evaluating the need or not to interrogate Ahmetaj, an action for which it is not necessary to obtain an approval from the Assembly of the Republic. On the other hand, SPAK believes that it has provided valuable evidence for the investigation in the checks made in the apartment of Ahmetaj's ex-wife in Tirana, as well as his roommate in the Hamallaj area.
Due to doubts about the lack of justification in legal sources, at the request of SPAK, the Special Court decided the measure of preventive sequestration on the villa of Ahmetaj's co-habitant in Hamallaj, as well as a villa in Palasa, which is suspected to be owned by his ex-wife .
The former deputy prime minister, Arben Ahmetaj, is being investigated by SPAK for the criminal offense of "abuse of duty", "corruption", "money laundering" and "concealment of wealth".
