Inflation "infects" even the turkey, the pensioners: Insufficient reward for the end of the year, our hope is in the children

Pensioners are among the most vulnerable subjects to the effects of inflation. Increasing prices of products and services are becoming more and more inaccessible to them. Having a low level of consumption due to low income and since inflation has affected basket products more strongly, the impact in this category is higher than in other categories of society. And while Albania has an annual 'tradition' of increasing the price of products during the holidays, this year the situation is even more sensitive. One of the classic end-of-the-year products, turkey, this year has started to see growth already, becoming more expensive by more than 30% compared to a year ago and overcoming both the usual inflation of this year and the annual tradition of making products more expensive during the holidays. Despite the fact that pensioners will be given a symbolic reward of 5,000 ALL and pensions were indexed a few months ago, these measures are still not enough to enable them to have a full table at the end of the year. According to the data of the Social Insurance Institute, the average monthly pension of a pensioner in urban areas is in the amount of 17,258 ALL. Although the level of the average pension has been gradually increasing, it still remains very low in relation to the prices and needs of this category. The same has happened for rural pensions, where the average pension goes up to ALL 9,568. again these measures are not sufficient to enable them to have a full table on the last evening of the year.
