Former minister Lleshaj attacks Rama: The government has fallen into a state of lethargy, reforms are needed, not marketing

The former Minister of the Interior, Sandër Lleshaj, invited to a television studio, also spoke about political developments in Albania, focusing on the government and the opposition.

According to him, the lack of pressure from the opposition has caused the government to be in a situation of "lethargy", while he stated that this is a serious handicap for governance.

Asked which of Rama's governments was the most successful for him, he said that "aging is a problem" in such cases and that "you have to invent yourself."

According to him, this can be done by constantly striving for reforms and not by marketing the current situation.

As for the opposition, Lleshaj said that its "disintegration" started in 2019, while adding that the country needs to create new alternatives without deep roots in history.

"The lack of opposition is a major handicap for the government and the country. The lack of pressure from the opposition leads to a situation of lethargy for the government. The lack of well-articulated opposition has caused this situation.

I cannot make a distinction between Rama governments, as the beginning is always connected with a feeling of enthusiasm. Aging is a problem and invented and reinvented itself. It is done by the permanent effort to reform and not to market the current state. The absence of this nerve is felt.

If we want to understand the opposition today, we have to look at the year 2019, because that's when the crumbling began. There, the opposition was involved in an unprecedented violence against the institutions. There was a protest where what they intended didn't work. The next day they left the parliament and then tried to enter there more violently. Their destruction is a positive thing in my opinion. A mentality of violence and revolution has been destroyed. It has also crumbled as an option for taking power. This rhetoric ended in 2019.

A political option such as violence proved impossible and useless. It is no longer possible to play with the institutions or the international factor. The country needs to create new alternatives without deep roots in history", he said.
