Analyst Kreshnik Spahiu says that former Prime Minister Sali Berisha and the head of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, will join a single party after the local elections on May 14.
In an interview for Euronews Albania, Spahiu said that Berisha, due to his age, may be active in politics for a few more years, so this union is necessary.
According to Spahi, the man who is being invested to be the future leader of this group, is Ilir Meta.
"Berisha, given that he is 80 years old and we wish him to be 150 years old, but the political clock is not parallel to the biological clock. So, there may be another 5-6 active years in politics and for this reason, this is the first stage of the fusion of LSI with Berisha's group, the preparation of a joint party.
Will it happen after 2025 when they lose, this has to be seen. I am sure, the man who is being invested to be the next leader of this group, is Ilir Meta. So, more or less, a new Lulzim Bashë", he emphasized.
