As the "SOT" newspaper warned, the citizens of Kukes have defeated the anti-US coalition led by the trio Berisha-Meta-Bardhi. Although the leaders of the "Together We Win" coalition promised a spectacular victory in the early local elections held this Sunday, the people of Kuks decided to entrust the leadership of the local government to the socialists again, thus giving another "slap" to Sali Berisha and those who follow him. Albert Halilaj, the candidate of the Socialist Party, won with a large margin, 5594 votes, against the candidate Emri Vata, who ran under the slogan of the coalition "Bashke Fitojm" directed by Meta-Berisha and supported by their allies such as the Gazment group Bardhit, Agron Duka's PAA, Vangjel Dule's PDBNJ or Nard Ndoka's PDK. Specifically, Albert Halilaj received 13,025 votes, or 63.67%. against Emri Vata who received 7431 votes, 36.33%. So this result shows that dark days await the "non grata" alliance. However, yesterday, at around 11:00 a.m., when the closing of the counting was announced at the "Lidhja e Prizren" school, the party of the socialists started. With shouts of "victory" and unfurling the "Atochthonous" flag, the socialists celebrated the victory, but the celebration was postponed to another day due to the day of national mourning in Kosovo after the killing of the policeman Afrim Bunjaku by armed groups in the village of Banjské in Zveçan. Briefly in front of the media, Albert Halilaj thanked the citizens and promised that he would be by their side. "I thank all the citizens of Kukes with all my heart, I promise that I will be by their side to help them. I give a clear message to politics, that they should be as close to people in need as they are to citizens. The victory with a large margin of votes showed that Kukësi chose the working people and the people who stood by. I expected the result, but not to this extent, I am a simple working boy who communicates with every citizen of every party belief", Albert Halilaj declared yesterday after the victory.

Rama reacts

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted regarding the elections held on Sunday in Kukës. Rama says that this advantage will be deepened, a clear indication of the trust and expectation of Kuksi citizens towards the government. "When a little more than half of the ballot boxes have been counted, the candidate of the Socialist Party for the Municipality of Kukës has an irreversible advantage of almost 3,000 votes, which will be further deepened until the crowning of an exemplary victory, which clearly speaks of for the trust and expectation of Kukës citizens towards us, as well as for our great obligation to them, to do much more for Kukës", wrote Rama on social networks. Even Pandeli Majko, the leader of the SP for the district of Kukës, said in the media yesterday that this city has put them in debt, with the victory they got to lead the municipality. "This is the victory of a boy who wins in Kukës and who will serve everyone without any party distinction. We owe a great debt to Kukës. This debt is not rewarded with words, but with deeds", declared the socialist deputy Pandeli Majko, who is also the political leader of this district. This is another blow in a few months for Sali Berisha after the partial elections of Rrogozhina held on July 23, 2023. An indication that Sali Berisha continues to lose support and that Albanians are abandoning him and those who follow him.

On the other hand, the losing candidate of the "Together We Win" coalition, Emri Vata, reacted yesterday on social networks after his defeat. Vata thanked his supporter and the Democrats who gave him confidence by voting for him. He also said that only in the power of Edi Rama, the political, moral and social scandals are not reflected in the result, but deepen it even more in favor of the offenders. He accused that patronageists and ministers have offered money and promises to win the elections. "I am forever grateful to the Democrats who trusted me by voting for me.

I am still indebted and grateful to my friends who supported me. Repeating what we have all seen with our eyes is unnecessary. I want to emphasize that only in the power of Edi Rama, the political, moral and social scandals are not reflected in the result, but deepen it in favor of the offenders. Patronageists and super-ministers were in Kukës with a bag full of money and promises, but the picture of Kukës emptied in the 10 years of their power speaks without the need for bail. The result of the elections, with all the distortions, pressure, buying and selling of votes, state crime should be read carefully. Today we closed a campaign, but not our mission to restore free elections in Kukës and throughout Albania. I wish that the vote of every Kuksian citizen is not wasted. Without free elections, there is no solution," Vata wrote.
