"The majority should not deal with the 'Netflix' opposition", Bushati "confesses" on the "McGonigal" issue: We must be in one voice with the USA

The former deputy of the Socialist Party, Ervin Bushati, has commented on the "McGonigal" case that has troubled Albanian politics in recent days, where the opposition accuses the prime minister of corrupting the former FBI official.

In an interview for Panorama TV, Bushati said that the American embassy cannot react to these accusations directed at Prime Minister Rama. This is because, according to Bushati, the case belongs to American justice and so far, it has not been proven that there are "corrupt" connections with the head of the Albanian government.

Speaking about the accusations of the opposition, Bushati said that the majority should not focus on them.

Ervin Bushati: We need a reform in public finances to increase progressiveness. I left my thinking in the middle of the road. Taxes should be increased for those who have dominant positions in the market. This is a tip to improve things. As a politician, I have several proposals that I think make Albania better. Playing with the opposition, the opposition on "Netflix", takes the focus away from the affairs of the majority. All others waste energy. If the government did not deal with these opposition distractions, today we would have a different tempo and a higher pace of work. We don't pretend to have the perfect man.

Ervin Kukeli: Regarding what you said above, that we are dealing with an espionage network. Are we dealing with a violation of our national security?

Ervin Bushati: Not at all. I do not believe. We must be in one voice with the US. Let's be in one voice for the fiscal amnesty, and if they say it can be done or not, we should go according to them. It has nothing to do with Albania's security. It's about American institutions. Since the election of Mr. Trump in America, there has been a shock to American institutions.

Ervin Kukeli: These are very delicate issues, should there be a reaction from the American embassy?

Ervin Bushati: For issues of justice in America, no. It is a matter of American justice. He is a man who has thrown his country, his family. At best, it has fallen prey to this game that has yet to be proven in the courts that it was not a good game by this agent. It has been agreed with both parties. He has abused the power and the power that that gray area gives you. He was one of the people who worked in this gray area. It is believed that he has abused, and with that he has thrown some people. Albania may have lost its relationship with this character, if it tries.
