Meta joins the table against violence against women in Albania: Let's make policies for its prevention

The chairman of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, joined yesterday the round table against violence against women and girls in Albania. In his speech, he emphasized that policies should be made that prevent violence and commit to the integration of those who are victims of violence. Meta added that the alarming figures of violence show that public institutions of social care have failed. "Violence against women and girls is also against the family and society, so it is unacceptable and we must condemn it with all our strength and make policies to prevent it. Let's raise children with this spirit of distance from violence, educate them in a democratic, humane and civic way. All men and young men must do more to rid our society of violence against women and girls. Alarming figures show a failure of public institutions of social care. In the 10 years of the current government, many Albanians have left the country like never before. Logic would like the number of victims of violence to decrease. Again, domestic violence continues to rise. Maladministration, poverty, impossibility, social injustices are hitting the Albanian family violently. "The violence has increased because the economic and social problems of Albanian families have increased dramatically," he declared. Even in this public appearance, Meta did not spare the attack on the government, saying that it does not prioritize strengthening the family. "The decrease in purchasing power hits the family in the core and the government does not prioritize supporting and strengthening the family. Public funds do not increase, wages have remained stagnant for a long time. Government payments to oligarchs increase, problems in the family, violence and social frustration only increase. We will engage in the parliament and municipality to enable the integration of women and girls, victims of violence in society. I strongly believe in commitment and proposals today and in the future", underlined Meta.
