Debate starts in the Assembly, Spaho-Nikolles: They are very tired, but you don't have votes

The debate has started again in the Parliament of Albania. This Thursday there were discussions regarding the draft law on the salaries of judges of the Constitutional Court. The Socialists asked for a week's postponement of the vote on this draft law, which caused opposition among the opposition.

Deputy Edmond Spaho said that the majority did not secure enough votes to pass it as a law, accusing that the Constitutional Court is completely under the control of the government.

Edmond Spaho: We were talking about citizenship and now we are jumping to the Constitutional Court. Since we came in here now, it's the second time you've asked to remove it from the agenda, point out exactly the failure with justice reform and the capture of the justice system. You started with a double salary system, you paid salaries outside the Albanian legislation, then you regretted it. A few months ago, the prime minister introduced these people into the system, now they are taking them out again to receive double the salary of the President, and moreover with the initiative of the Constitutional Court.

The members of which are so tired of judging a case once every 3 months, they turn to the government because they have a guarantee that the government will do it for them. It is the second time you have postponed it, will the law change in substance? That's why you have to be honest with the citizens, tell them we're withdrawing it because we don't have votes, you didn't have it last time, you don't have it today. Despite the bargain with Brava, you don't get away with it. No one will praise you for what you are doing, 10 decisions have been issued so far and those in favor of the government. Meanwhile, when PD was in power, that court issued 37 decisions against Berisha's government.
