After more than 9 hours of meeting of the leadership of the Democratic Party, 17 of its 29 members decided that the new chairman will be elected on July 29.
This caused many debates within the meeting because a part of the members, democratic deputies, requested that first the branch elections be held and finally the election of the new chairman.
The General Secretary of the DP, Gazment Bardhi, revealed how the proposal for the election of the president was put to the vote on July 29, amid clashes between the members.
"The tension was created by the fact that it was not accepted to discuss any proposal other than the one that was voted. Meanwhile, Jemin Gjana, Roland Bejko and Jonila Godole were proposing versions that combined both attitudes. We asked that yes, we should have a unified version, which makes it possible to reach a unanimous decision and find a version that unites the two positions. "Land Bejko made a concrete proposal for unification and as soon as we started to discuss, we were not allowed to speak because of the shouts "we vote, vote, vote only the version of July 15", said Bardhi.
