The official PD opens the election race for the new president the next day, comes Tabaku's first reaction

On the 5th and 6th of June, the group of democrats carrying the PD logo will first gather the parliamentary group and then the presidency, to decide on the future of this political force and its direction.

Jorida Tabaku, who holds the highest position in the Democratic Party in the capacity of vice-president, explains that she will defend the idea that PD does not open the race for president at this moment.

"I think that on Tuesday the presidency should not open the race for the DP chairman. On Tuesday, the presidency must judge for a process that gives us time to reflect, gives us time to start contacting people, talking to people. We were in an extraordinary impasse even with our presence on the ground", said Tabaku.

Tabaku thinks that the PD should take time to analyze the election results, the problem of the split in the party, see the state of the structures before electing the president. Tabaku has preferred to avoid comments about the return of Lulzim Basha to the campaign to take the leadership of the DP again, stressing that in her judgment a temporary collegial leadership would be the best solution.

 "I have listened carefully to some of the statements he has made in the cities, but I have not heard him express himself so clearly. I think we need to move away from this language that I don't like this and I don't like that. I think that at the moment DP should not open the election process.

We need a group of 3 people who will naturally lead the DP to the elections. The mistake we have made that after every loss we have re-elected the president, I think it has harmed us. We should not rush this process", said Tabaku. 

According to Tabaku, DP should read the results of the last 10 years and change.

 "We need to start a process of reflection, to open up the democratic party, to change the way decisions are made in the democratic primacy. In order to make DP a true political force, which is spread capillaryly on the ground and not an electoral force, that every time there is an election we start and engage.

The long opposition has actually forced us to have less presence in the territory than we had. And finally, to make DP a party that addresses all strata", she added.

Until now, within the grouping that bears the DP logo, there are two groups, one grouping which includes Gazment Bardhi and Jorida Tabaku, who support the idea of ??postponing the election of the head of the DP, and another grouping that believes that the race should be opened for the direction of this political force.

But while the decision on the future of the DP has not yet been taken, its former president, Lulzim Basha, has started a tour of meetings with the structures, presenting his program for the direction of the DP.

It remains to be seen whether, 1 and a half years after his resignation, Lulzim Basha still has the support of the majority of the DP leadership, or whether he has already lost his influence in the leadership forums of this political force.
