Journalist Eni Ferhati told Euronews Albania that Saimir Tahiri, since the first day he was imprisoned, had several attempts to get out of prison legally.

Ferhati said that initially he requested to know the time of the probation service, but the institution Tahiri should perform the probation service has stated that the former minister has not appeared for a single day.

His second attempt was a request for release, as his life in prison was threatened, but this request was also rejected, until he reached the third attempt at the Court of Elbasan.

"The first attempt was to reduce the sentence by asking to recognize the time of the probationary service that he did in the beginning from the sentence of the court of first instance for serious crimes, he also asked for calculation of the sentence "arrest house" because in 2018 he stayed for some time under house arrest and requested that this time be calculated, the request for recognition of the probationary service was rejected.

The second attempt, through a legal form, was the request that he filed in the Supreme Court where he asked to be released from the cell on the grounds that his stay in the cell endangered his life because there are still arrested and convicted persons in the prison during the time he was interior minister, this request was rejected by the high court.
