Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha has placed his "shoulders against the wall". His chances to "survive" depend on Ilir Meta and Lulzim Basha. The elections of May 14 are approaching and the Court of Appeal of Tirana has not yet decided to whom belongs the legitimacy of the DP, i.e. the seal and the logo of the party. However, despite this, in the register of political parties in the Court of Tirana, Lulzim Basha still appears as the chairman of the Democratic Party.

Berisha "divorces" from Meta

So one of his options to enter the election is Meta. But the head of "Foltore" is determined to divorce Meta, since if he follows the path of 'March 6', running with the Freedom Party logo, he will eventually be out of the game. Clearly, Berisha promised that "Foltorja" will not compete under the shadow of any other logo, since such a thing, according to him, means the disappearance of PD as a political force. Through this strong statement, former Prime Minister Berisha announced his divorce from his ally, the chairman of PL, Ilir Meta. Berisha has "sniffed" the plan of Ilir Meta, who aims to take the reins of the opposition in the final, given that Sali Berisha and Foltorja are without a sigil, without a seat and without a seal, naturally they will depend on him and the Party of Freedom. Even though in public the duo Meta-Berisha appear as friends and collaborators, their history and accusations against each other have shown that they always have "an ace up their sleeve". The head of the "Foltor" sees Meta as "Hamza Kastrioti" who will betray him again. Former Prime Minister Berisha has understood that Ilir Meta cannot be trusted, but he also sees the Democrats who are categorically against a coalition with PL. So we have a clear breakdown in relations between Berisha and Meta.

The former prime minister bargained with Basha and the USA

After the divorce with Meta, Sali Berisha is expected to turn her eyes to Lulzim Basha and the USA. The main reason is that it will be Basha on paper who will face Prime Minister Rama in the May 14 elections. Since the process for the new chairman has not been opened, Basha continues to appear officially in the papers as the leader of the party. Judge Agron Zhukri's decision has not been reflected since it was appealed by Enkelejd Alibeaj. So he is null. So all the decisions taken by Berisha, the Assemblies called by him or even the National Council are illegitimate, also due to the fact that Zhukrit's decision has not given any legal effect and is not final. Without a court certificate, Sali Berisha cannot be registered with the CEC. In these conditions, Sali Berisha has the only way to seek bargains with Basha and the USA. Berisha's negotiations with Basha for withdrawing from the May 14 elections by "liberating" the Democratic Party from usurpation can be completed in exchange for the removal of the "non women", but also the closing of the files from the USA. "SOT" newspaper learned behind the scenes that Sali Berisha is working hard to remove his name from the "black list". This would be his best opportunity to enter into talks with the Americans. But the most important is the rescue of his son Shkëlzen Berisha from prison. The Americans have all the evidence and recently opened files, such as the Partizani Complex, January 21, or Gërdeci, where the Berisha family is implicated, can be quietly "closed" with the strong condition that the chief speaker withdraws and gives way to free Basha and the Democratic Party. It remains to be seen what will happen next.
