Sali Berisha reveals the reason why he boycotted the Assembly today

Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha was not present in the Assembly today, despite the fact that a few days ago he guaranteed that he would return to the first plenary session of this year.

Berisha clarified that the reason for his absence in Parliament was the speech of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The former prime minister said the cause became a contradiction between him and the Turkish president years ago due to a disagreement over the Palestinian issue.

"I was absent today because I decided not to be present at the speech of the Turkish president in parliament. I have great respect for Turkey and the Turkish nation. But I have had open contradictions with President Erdogan in the last years of my rule, when I have not agreed to follow or vote in the UN resolutions that contradicted my assessment, with the positions held by the US and major countries on the issue of Palestine.Albania is one of the few that has known and has a Palestinian embassy for years determined during the dictatorship.But her presence in Tirana was never questioned.I had learned from the Palestinian ambassador that Erdogan was very angry with me.He insisted that I change my attitude.What I told him was that I could abstain but, to never vote ", said Berisha.
