SPAK gets access to 9 other databases, among them Cadastre, prisons and banks, will be used in the function of the investigations it carries out on corruption issues

During the year 2022, the Special Prosecutor's Office received direct access to 9 other state databases which are used in the function of the investigations it carries out on issues of corruption and organized crime. Specifically, during the past year, SPAK has sought and managed to directly access the Civil Status system, the Cadastre system, the Prison Directorate, the notarial and property registers, or bank accounts. Also, they have been added as a database where the Special Prosecutor's Office has access without having to request verifications from outside parties, in some of the other State Police systems, such as ADAM, E-Fine, or even reports and statistics. The law approved in 2016 on the operation of the Special Prosecutor's Office gives the right to this structure and the National Bureau of Investigation, have access to the existing databases of all state institutions. This access is granted within 6 months and only at the request of the head of the Special Prosecutor's Office. It is permanent and aims to avoid the leakage of information about criminal and property investigations that SPAK conducts.
