Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha reacted today to a draft decision that the government is preparing for the merger of the Academy of Albanology and its merger with the Academy of Sciences.
Berisha writes that this is an anti-national and illegal act by Prime Minister Rama.

Dear friends, Edi Rama is undertaking an open attack against Albanianology, the Albanian language, the sciences of ethnogenesis, our national identity. He, contrary to the laws of Higher Education and the Academy of Sciences, has prepared with his minister of education a decision for the merger of the Albanological Academy, its centers and institutes and handing them over to Skender Gjinushi.
I condemn with the greatest severity this anti-Albanian and illegal decision of Edi Rama as an annihilating blow for studies of the Albanian language, the sciences of ethnogenesis and I demand its immediate cancellation.
