The meeting of the leadership of the Democratic Party where it was decided to open the immediate race for president has been accompanied by numerous tensions, clashes, verbal violence and almost even physical violence in the hall where it was held. 

After numerous clashes, the first to leave the meeting were the chairman of the democratic parliamentary group, Gazmend Bardhi, and the deputy Dashnor Sula. But on their way out of the premises of the headquarters, supporters of Lulzim Bashe were insulted by the family. 

Then Saimir Korreshi, Lefter Geshtenja, Bledion Nallbati and Helidon Bushati, after leaving the meeting, were stopped at the wall of the Presidency of the Assembly by Basha's supporters who throughout the meeting exerted pressure by occasionally opening the door of the hall where the meeting was being held and have issued insults to the members of the Presidency who are against the opening of the process for the race of the president. 

Militants who support Basha have tried to hit these deputies. 

Basha's supporters have verbally abused and insulted the journalists who were reporting from 6 p.m. from the outdoor premises where the leadership meeting was held.

 

What happened at the meeting?

After 8 hours of tense meeting, the presidency of the Democratic Party made a decision to open the immediate race for the president and hold the elections on July 29. 

The meeting started around 18:00 on Tuesday and closed around 2:30 on Wednesday where the members of the presidency were divided into two groups.

The group of deputies, whose composition included Gazmend Bardhi, Dashnor Sula, Bledion Nallbati, Helidon Bushati, Jorida Tabaku, Lefter Gështenja and Sajmir Koreshi, who requested the conduct of elections first in the branches and then for the chairman.

While the second group consists of the former commanding chairman of the party, Enkelejd Alibeaj, former mayoral candidates Roland Bejko and Agron Kapllanaj, as well as former MP Xhemal Gjunkshi.

In the end, 17 out of 28 members of the presidency voted for the proposal to hold elections on July 29.
