The deputy of the Democratic Party, Belind Kelliçi, has reacted to the latest report of the British intelligence regarding the illegal traffic of immigrants in dinghies in the "La Manche" channel, where 40% of those who cross the island turn out to be Albanians.
According to Këlliç, these reports show that Albania is depopulating at an alarming rate and is doing the same as countries like Iraq and Eritrea, which are war zones.
Belind Kelliç's statement:
A report by British military intelligence has revealed that 40 percent of those who cross the English Channel, in dinghies, to the United Kingdom, are Albanians.
In the period June 1 - July 12, 1075 Albanians crossed the sea strait between France and England in rafts and small boats.
What we want to emphasize today is not the phenomenon of immigration, which is as old as the world itself.
The question we raise from this pulpit is why Albania, a country not in conflict, and not even suffering from any epidemic, drought or other crisis, produces more immigrants than all the 'horror countries'?
According to the British report, among those who have crossed the English Channel in a 6-week period, 13 percent are Iranian, 12 percent Afghan, 7 percent Iraqi, while 5 percent are Syrian and Eritrean. The head of the table is taken by Albanians with 40 percent.
If we take a quick balance of the state of these countries, it turns out that:
Iran is in a regime of ayatollahs, a religio-political dictatorship, which oppresses and persecutes the population, denying all freedom and rights.
Afghanistan is back under the rule of the Taliban, persecutors of opponents and civilians, who require the population to live according to the codes of a fanatical Islam. Sectarian violence and acts of terrorism are part of everyday life.
Iraq is a country emerging from a long sectarian war, a battleground for influence and power of several religious and political powers and factions. In short: one of the most unsafe countries in the world.
The history of Syria is familiar to Albanians, as several families were trapped in war camps there. The country is one of the battlegrounds of ISIS and the prey of a long civil and sectarian war.
Eritrea, an African country has long been the site of a bloody war in the Tigray region. According to a recent UN report, men are being forcibly taken to war. A country emerging from a 30-year conflict with Ethiopia, Eritrea has 66 percent of its population below the poverty line.
Seeing this horror picture, when Albanians are free to move in Europe, come from a NATO member country, have a wonderful geographical position and climate, are not at risk of conflicts, disease or hunger on a large scale, then why do they risk more than the sons of these poor countries?
The answer is: being European, recognizing and embracing the European principles of fair competition, equal opportunities, social state, solidarity, etc., and not seeing these opportunities materialized and possible in their homeland, Albanians leave
Seeing that the government manipulates votes, steals with incinerators and EU funds, does not provide life security for citizens, promotes criminal elements in society, does not prioritize education or health, the Albanian is forced to take the roads of the world.
When citizens flee from a blessed land like ours, in double the numbers compared to the countries of the warring regions, then Albania has become an unlivable country.
The government has become unbearable. We don't find a better place than ours, nor do we want to.
Better government, of course.
